Mothers tend to experience a more significant loss of identity and self-confidence driven by a longer time away from the workplace. If we provide an understanding of the impact of motherhood on a woman's identity and create opportunities for her to speak openly about these changes when she returns to work, then we will reduce the mental health struggles and anxiety of women returning to the workplace after parental leave. 

Unfortunately, not many companies offer in-house Returnships or RTW (Return-To-Work) programs so at Black Ant, we took this matter into our own hands and created Australia’s first independent RTW program, RTWell, suitable for all sizes of companies, from small businesses under 5 employees to large multinationals.

“Returning to work after parental leave has been the biggest challenge of my career. My heart was pushing me to become a full time mum but my analytical mind was telling me that resuming my career as quickly as possible was a financial and professional growth necessity. Like many women, I was dealing with constant guilt of being at home with the kids when I was not at work, and guilt of being in the office when I was not looking after my kids.

I quickly realised that no matter the size of the company, the circumstances or the background of a new mother, most women struggle to go back to work and stay employed after becoming a mother, so we spent the past two years designing the ideal corporate program every woman needs when she embarks on the transformative journey of parental leave and working motherhood. 

Our goal is that RTWell allows future working mothers to go on parental leave with confidence, feeling supported by their employer and knowing that their postnatal and return to work journey will be efficiently managed by a team of experts, at no additional cost to them.”
